This role involves developing purchasing strategies, coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure smooth and timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement import strategies to optimize costs and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate with suppliers, shipping companies, and customs brokers for seamless import operations.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Handle import documentation, including bills of landing, invoices, and customs declarations.
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts with shipping carriers and logistics providers.
- Address and resolve import-related issues such as delays, customs hold, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Work with internal departments (procurement, finance, and warehouse) to align import operations with business needs.
- Stay updated on changes in import regulations and tariff structures.
- Analyze import data and trends to improve operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Research, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, and reliability.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and contracts.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors.
- Maintain supplier records and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
- Bachelors in business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in import management, logistics, or international trade.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, trade compliance, and import documentation.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- To be proficient in English
