We are looking for a creative, inspirational leader who will join our team as Head of Fundraising and Communications Department, with entrepreneurial skills who is both strategic and also willing to work "hands on".

About us:
SOS Children’s Villages in Albania is a nongovernmental and nonpolitical organization, which provides family-like care since 1995. We are present in 136 countries and territories around the world. We respect all religions and cultures and work with trusted partners so we can contribute to social development.
We work to prevent family breakdown and care for children who have lost parental care, or who risk losing it. Our vision is a world where every child belongs to a family and grows with love, respect and security. We work with communities, partners and states to ensure that the rights of all children are respected and fulfilled.

Must criteria:

  • She/he needs to have people management skills and a strong commitment to meet agreed targets
  • She/he also needs to be able to actively identify and open new opportunities for financial support and maintaining high ethical fundraising standards
  • She/he has to be a state resident with proven understanding and knowledge how things work in the country and well integrated in local business networks (e.g. membership of professional associations) and society
  • Can identify with the vision, mission and values of SOS Children’s Villages in Albania

Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • University degree in marketing, sales, business administration, international relations or social science. MA degree in any of these fields would be considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of at least 3-5 years in fundraising or similar profession in a leading position
  • Proven track record in direct marketing and at least one other FR-channel (online, F2F, SMS.)
  • Experience in the use of online marketing, use of social media as part of a fully integrated FR approach
  • Good understanding and practical experience of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems incl. database solutions being able to manage the full donor life cycle
  • A proven track record of at least 3‐5 years in leadership and management
  • Able to lead, motivate, mentor, coach and manage the fundraising team
  • Capable of setting and achieving ambitious and realistic targets
  • Able to represent and be professionally comfortable with High Net Worth Individuals and SOS national major donors
  • Experience and competence in dealing with managing income and expenditure budgets
  • A strong result focused orientation combined with a proven competence in strategic planning, budgeting, analysis and evaluation
  • Proven market analysing skills
  • Efficient in time and resource management
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills both local language and English
  • Able to deal with the challenges of a complex international organisation
  • Self‐motivated, determined, innovative and with a “can do” mentality, i.e. ability to identify and take advantage of fundraising opportunities with an entrepreneurial spirit and not rely on brand awareness. Must proactively “sell” the SOS national association.
  • Service culture approach: able to understand the language, needs and able to fulfil the needs and expectations of diverse donors (private, corporate, institutional)
  • Strong social and networking skills and in initiating and developing professional relationships
    on a national level as well as within the professional FDC network of SOS Children’s Villages
  • Well‐groomed and self‐confident character and appearance
  • Able to deal with challenges and stress situations
  • Good working knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Lync)
  • Experience with high‐level negotiations and management of partners and service providers

Main responsibilities:

  • Defines, implements and fulfils the middle-term FR /FDC strategy reflected in the business plans of the Member Association. This includes donations in kind and private funding
  • Plans, monitors, evaluates and analyses the fundraising activities according to defined planning and reporting procedures and against defined and agreed KPIs
  • Positions SOS Children’s Villages as a strong and consistent brand among potential and existing supporters based on SOS Children’s Villages roots, vision, mission and values
  • Works according to globally valid manuals and guidelines and the Fund Development & Communication Department’s planning and reporting procedure
  • Pursues opportunities for the country to internally and externally promote the Member Associations’ activities in order to increase the public recognition and foster a positive image with the overall goal to support fundraising activities, sets up the External Communications concept and the External Communications plan reflecting the strategy and the development of External Communication in the country, is responsible for fulfilling the External Communications plan
  • Aims to strengthen brand awareness, credibility and acceptance with the overall goal to support fundraising activities · Drives fundraising innovation in all fields of Fundraising like products, channels, target groups, database solutions etc.

In the framework of child protection policy:

  • Has the responsibility to protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, manipulation, violence and discrimination;
  • Has the responsibility to report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or incidents regarding the safety of children immediately;
  • Has the responsibility to act without delay; delay in action can lead the child to further risks;
  • Includes the right people at the right time; reporting should be made to the child protection group at program level and / or to the line manager;
  • Ensures confidentiality and sharing of information as needed.

Terms:

  • Full-time, 5 days a week: Mon-Fri;
  • Workplace in a centrally located office in Tirana;
  • Employment contract in accordance with the Labour Legislation of the Republic of Albania;
  • Training both at the beginning and in the process of work;
  • A team of friendly professionals ready to help.
