Core Network Engineer


Job purpose: Responsible for performing all the tasks related to testing, implementation for both PS & CS domain (i.e. MSC/VLRs, SGSN, GGSNs ) as well as the signalling network platforms (i.e.HLR/AuC, EIR, SCCP Relays), and is responsible for performing all technical activities related to GSM and GPRS roaming services.

Main job accountabilities

• Responsible for the preparation and execution of the work orders for overall core network configuration activity as result of: H/W and interconnection expansions (new switches, interconnection capacity increases), new functionality requested (new services) improvements decided and changes in the network architecture.
• Integration of the new network nodes, systems a releases. Activation of the new switches, configuration and implementation of S/W releases and application systems, integration in the Vodafone operating environment including billing, provisioning and network management systems
• Prepare and implement network charging and interconnect accounting.
• Follow up and control of the network charging and interconnect traffic
• Testing, verifications and integration of new GSM, GPRS node according to standard Vodafone procedures
• Network performance – monitoring, development of monitoring processes, KPIs and tools.
• Resolve any technical problems arising from roaming and monitor and keep track of roaming statistics

Profile Requirements

• Degree in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering
• Deep knowledge of GSM/UMTS network functions and technologies
• Good communication, analytical skills and the ability to communicate freely at all levels
• An excellent command of written and spoken English is essential
• Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on the most important and to understand corporate policy.
