On behalf of our client, a prestigious Foundation overseeing the development of a landmark Museum project, we are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to lead financial operations, ensure strong governance, and provide independent oversight of Foundation funds.

This role combines operational financial management with strategic financial control, ensuring that all expenditures, procurement activities, and project costs are accurately monitored, properly authorized, and aligned with approved budgets. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, external auditors, accountants, contractors, and project teams to safeguard financial integrity throughout the Foundation’s activities and major capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting​

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and budget-versus-actual analyses.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and audit-ready documentation.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial procedures.

Budgeting & Financial Planning​

  • Develop annual operating and project budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Produce variance analyses, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Support strategic financial planning and decision-making.

Payments & Financial Controls​

  • Review and approve payments to ensure proper authorization and supporting documentation.
  • Verify invoices, contractor claims, and payment certificates before release of funds.
  • Ensure expenditures are aligned with contractual obligations and completed work.

Museum Project Financial Oversight​

  • Track project costs, commitments, variations, and contingency allocations.
  • Monitor project cash flow and identify budget risks or cost overruns.
  • Provide regular financial updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Procurement & Cost Management​

  • Review procurement processes, supplier quotations, and contractor spending.
  • Ensure value-for-money principles are applied across all purchasing activities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Support transparent and compliant procurement practices.

Governance, Risk & Compliance​

  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, Foundation policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Identify financial, contractual, and procurement-related risks.
  • Report significant concerns, irregularities, or red flags to senior leadership.
  • Investigate irregular expenditures and recommend corrective actions.

Audit & Stakeholder Management​

  • Act as the primary liaison with external accountants and auditors.
  • Coordinate annual audits and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Support Board reporting and governance requirements as needed.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications​

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in financial management roles.
  • Strong background in budgeting, financial controls, procurement oversight, and auditing.
  • Experience within non-profit organizations, donor-funded projects, construction, infrastructure, property development, or large capital projects is highly advantageous.

Skills & Competencies​

  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Excellent understanding of internal controls and governance frameworks.
  • Experience managing contractor payments and project cost controls.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
