Islamic Relief Albania is seeking to hire a Media & Communications Officer to join our team.
JOB TITLE: Media & Communication Officer
DEPARTEMENT: Media & Communication
BASE LOCATION: Tirana, Albania
CONTRACT DURATION: One year with possibility extension

Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity founded in 1984 with its headquarters in Birmingham, UK. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, Islamic Relief promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities – regardless of race, religion or gender. Islamic Relief has been active in The Republic of Albania since 1991, IR Albania office started officially its operation in Albania in 1994. IRA implements its projects through regional field offices. Our office deal with our three main programs of Orphan Welfare, Emergency, Relief Programs and Development Projects. Our operations are implemented all Albania Country.

Summary:
The Media & Communications officer disseminates information of general and newsworthy interest to the news media, public officials and the general public. The officer performs communications, operations, and public relations duties and tasks specific to the position.
Objectives:

  • To positively promote the aims and objectives of Islamic Relief Albania
  • To achieve coverage of IRA & its concerns across a range of media and general public.
  • To cultivate IRA’s links with the media.
Specific Tasks
  • To co-ordinate the dissemination of information from IRA
  • Write press releases under general supervision of Fundraising & Programs.
  • Develop, write, edit, distribute content and communications materials, including content for social media, website, press releases, reports and other distribution channels that communicates the organization's activities
  • Capture photos, videos of different projects and edit visual content for multiple platforms for the needs of the organization
  • Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards
  • Use all relevant new media opportunities to proactively disseminate the work of IRA
  • Responding promptly and efficiently to media enquiries
  • Proactively identify and map opportunities for promoting IRA’s campaigns and projects work in the media
  • Strategic planning of media work (with Fundraising & Programs)
  • Manage the IRA’s media database
  • Plan specific media events, press conferences and photo calls to gain coverage for IRA issues
  • All other reasonable tasks as directed by the Head of Fundraising and IRW Media Division.
  • Ensuring the provision of all visibility requirements in the field.
  • To coordinate the design & print promotional material such brochures, calendars etc.
  • To coordinate the production of various promotional videos on behalf of IRA.
  • Maintain the archives of news on IRA & video material from HQ.
REQUIRED:
Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Mass communication/Journalism or Media studies
  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations and all Experience of working in a creative public relations or marketing role would be an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to achieve coverage of issues and experts.
  • Proven ability to develop good content aspects of communications work.
Languages
Very good written Albanian. Spoken and written English is required.
Professional Qualifications

  • Experience in a communications, photography or marketing role
  • Familiarized with the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset
  • Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices
  • Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts
