Master Data Specialist

The Master Data Specialist completes tasks which support business teams and assists in the development of business requirements in order to solve for master data related business problems and provides assistance to departmental managers on phases of larger projects.

Responsibilities in the position extend beyond data entry so the candidate should be prepared to multi-task and contribute to some project related work. On the day-to-day, the role is responsible to:

• Fully understand the data maintenance processes and use this knowledge to effectively manage the future system changes.
• Understand the implications of master data as it relates to SAP and other business systems based on requirements.
• Accurately maintain data within the outlined workflow process and defined service level agreements
• Enforce established data standards, guidelines, and change management processes
• Develop a proficiency and understanding of Company systems in order to effectively support department functions
• Work with data owners to identify data discrepancies, communicate them to appropriate governance teams or business partners, research discrepancies and facilitate/coordinate their resolution.
• Actively cleans the master data in the systems to prevent errors/mistakes during execution of business processes.
• Support regular master data audit, reviews and reports processes to ensure that the information through the network is accurate.
• Recommend improvements to workflow processes and procedures
• Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential

Education and experience:

• University degree with an emphasis in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics, Supply Chain or related field of study
• Minimum 3 year of ERP Master Data experience / SAP experience along Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to create reports containing graphs and other intermediate functions and Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to create spreadsheets (e.g. formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management
• Proven analytical problem solver, ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate, and resolve discrepancies
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
• Ability to think strategically and see how parts interact with the big picture and effectively present to an audience
• Ability to streamline processes, integrate, and associate pieces of information gathered from multiple sources and apply to projects
