Health & Safety Engineer

ANTEA Cement Sh.A., subsidiary of TITAN Cement Company S.A., has invested in Albania by constructing a technologically advanced cement Plant, and invites qualified professionals to join our Health & Safety Department in the following position:


Main duties and responsibilities:

• Monitor adherence to safety acts and regulations. Ensuring compliance to applicable Albanian laws and regulations, and conformance to all company health and safety expectations. Propose corrective actions as needed.
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices through work site knowledge, employee interactions, and work site inspections/audits. Propose corrective actions as needed.
• Test emergency response plans and procedures to handle potential emergencies or disasters Propose corrective actions as needed.
• Recommend solutions and assist in achieving compliance for health and safety concerns, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures as well as follow up activities to ensure implementation of corrective actions.
• Support all engineers and technician teams to embed safety friendly attitude into their everyday activities, cascading this to all levels. Become the advocate and point of contact for Health and Safety advice.
• Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents to aid in determining root cause analyses and appropriate corrective actions.
• Conducting and reviewing risk assessments of processes to reduce risk.
• Have a good knowledge of ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System. Previous experience with this standard is a plus.
• Complete administrative duties, assist in preparation and keeping of required reports, documents and records for internal health and safety KPIs/statistics, ISO 45001 management system and to state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Train and oversee employees on health and safety regulations and internal requirements. Guarantee the appropriate registration of the Health and Safety training, both provided by external bodies and internally as training on-the-job.
• Oversee operations on a daily basis to ensure all company personnel or contractors follow safety procedures precisely.
• Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards and develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees.
• Assist in preparation of health monitoring plan for the employees as per Albanian Law and company requirements.
• Perform other duties as instructed by H&S Manager.

Candidate profile:

• University degree in technical field
• Knowledge of Albanian & European Legislation on H&S at work and ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System
• Prior experience in industry or safety consultancy/monitoring.
• Project and team management skills
• Strong communication and collaborative skills; ability to successfully work in a matrix environment.
• Effective planning, organizing, and analytical skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office products
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Albanian and English.
• Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.) is a plus.
