Sr Mgr, Process Improvement

As an Assurant Process Improvement Engineer you would report to the Senior Director of Service Delivery. The Service Delivery team is responsible for providing repair services throughout the U.S. on a large variety of Consumer goods covered by Assurant protection plans, such as major appliances and consumer electronics products. In this role you would lead organizational process improvement projects focused on productivity, efficiencies, elimination of waste and the ideal Customer experience. You would utilize your knowledge and skills to obtain the necessary information and data to define, analyze, improve and control business processes that touch multiple departments and organizations. You would be responsible as well for the oversight and implementation of Service Delivery projects and development expenses associated with each project and you would be expected to ensure that all projects comply with relevant laws, polices, and regulations

Given the breadth of the organization, with multiple locations across the U.S., from time to time you would be expected to travel to these sights to engage with business leaders and their respective teams in order to ensure comprehensive and timely execution of projects. In this role you would have 2 direct reports; three employees: Manager of Business Operations Technology, Business Analyst and Compliance Administrator.

In this role you would be expected to work closely with the Sr. Director to identify specific “pain points” or areas of inefficiency that require process engineering support. You would apply 6 Sigma or “Lean” methodologies to each area in order to quantify the size, scope and ROI of the opportunity. Upon approval from the Sr. Director you would move forward to execute the project, serving as the Project manager and Process Engineer. You will be held accountable to meet and/or exceed performance and fiduciary targets and to deliver completed projects on schedule, which from time to time or as business dictates will require longer work weeks, extended hours or additional travel.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering, Finance, Accounting, I.T. or other related technical degrees
  • 8 year’s work experience in your related field of study or similar studies
  • Demonstrated experience in leading process improvement projects
  • 6 Sigma Green Belt certified or “Lean” certified, having completed projects which yielded $1M or more ROI
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the use of statistical and analytical tools such as Mini-Tab, Excel, Visio or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at multiple levels, including senior management levels
  • Demonstrated experience in streamlining workflows and work groups, including restructuring of organizations, roles or business processes
  • Strong experience in the ability to query, organize and analyze large volumes of data
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and communicate business changes effectively.
  • A high level of experience in creating and delivering Power Point presentations and Visio process flows

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree - Engineering, Finance, Accounting, I.T. or other related technical degrees
  • Prior P&L experience
  • Prior Managerial or Supervisory experience
  • Black Belt certified with demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives or teams
  • Prior experience having worked for a Major Appliance manufacturer or Consumer Electronics manufacturer
  • Project management experience
  • Prior experience in working with legal to draft vendor agreements
