Tirana International Airport SHPK (“TIA”) is seeking for a
HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST

who will report to the Airport Safety Director/Safety Manager of the company.

Main tasks and responsibilities of the position:
(for indicative purposes only. The responsibilities listed below can be subject of change upon recruitment)

  • Follow and ensure compliance with safety standards (SMS) and occupational health and safety standards. Inspect and evaluate airport facilities, including; (e.g., taxiway, apron, fences / gates, working environments and work equipment) and other facilities in compliance with safety regulations
  • Responsible for checking the implementation of safety requirements, working conditions and occupational health and safety, in order to evaluate and review the Safety Management System (SMS) for its continuous improvement. Carries out risk assessments and identifies the risks and weaknesses.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections as established in annual audit plans. Maintain an effective reporting system and information related to health and safety (reports, data, meeting minutes, information on hazard and risk analysis, risk management, remedial action, mitigation measures, occurrence and accident investigations, and audit reports)
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of airport services and safety procedures, and the implementation of SOPs with the aim of determining potential causes for accidents
  • Follow up daily reports and incident reports and take required measures.
  • Developing, organizing and conducting health and safety training plans and programs as per legal requirements and company needs.
  • Monitors and directs the movement of vehicles, persons, and equipment on the airfield to insure safe and efficient operations. Provides safety support during operations and construction projects in the airport. Selecting effective protective equipment and ensuring its availability for safe performance of work activities.
  • Responds to and investigates all airfield incidents and accidents, including those involving injuries to people and, as required, administers first aid; identifies potential contributing factors and recommends corrective action, including facility repairs/upgrades, and /or new or improved procedures and policies.
  • Prepares detailed informational and operational reports related to safety incidents, injuries, and occupational health accidents and inform the respective authorities
  • Maintaining records of all accidents occurring at work, workplaces’ plan, risk assessment document for each job position together with preventive measures, the list of dangerous substances used in the company.

Requirements of the position:

  • Bachelor Degree
  • SMS course or other equivalent training courses
  • Knowledge in dealing with airline practices and airport operations
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures in accordance with ICAO, IATA documents, Labor Code and applicable Laws and Regulations
  • At least 3 years of experience in related job responsibilities
  • Adept at Microsoft Office software
  • Accurate and skilled at inspecting and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform research, suggest solutions and prepare effective written documents
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize work
  • Very good relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level of English language
