CIVIL ENGINEER (LABORATORY ENGINEER) - Doha, QATAR
I- Assignment
To oversee and maintain the quality of the materials testing laboratory functions as they relate to design and construction of projects. To assist the Head of material testing division in the operation of laboratory and to perform physical and mechanical testing of construction materials (sand, aggregate, concrete, cement, soil, asphalt, blocks and other related constituents).
II- Function
Establish work priorities for the materials laboratory section and assure that their section stays current with industry standards and trends. Work with other staff to update and improve the accuracy and efficiency of testing systems, processes and procedures. To operate and perform testing on construction materials. To organize sampling and testing work in the laboratory and on site according to the directives of the Head of material testing division.

To ensure accurate measurement of the physical and mechanical properties of construction materials according to documented procedures and provide scientific judgment and interpretation of test results

VI- Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensures a tidy workplace in the central laboratory.
• Examines and prepares samples for testing.
• Carries out all physical tests and checks the test results.
• Calculates and checks the test results and assists in the preparation of the reports.
• Reviews final test reports as directed by the Head of material testing division.
• Maintains and calibrates test equipment.
• Carries out sampling, testing and non-destructive testing on site.
• Provide timely, accurate service in response to the Head of material testing division requests;
• Participate with the in organizing the testing activities
• Control testing activities during construction projects; spot check data for errors;
• Meet with inspectors, engineers, contractors, and/or developers to determine corrective action required when there are discrepancies between work done and the approved plans, specifications and standards;
• Perform calculations and operate computer software;
• Maintain and repair materials testing equipment as necessary;
• Obtain necessary data and design pavement structural sections;
• Determine whether or not street subgrade meets the specification for stability;
• Evaluate tests on asphalt concrete;
• Take samples of construction materials for examination or analysis in laboratories.
• Assist in the development of the Quality Management System of the company
• Ensures that tests are carried with integrity and accuracy and that test equipment are functioning in good condition

With other staff in the Material Testing Division and other Divisions
Normally with other staff in site laboratories
With the Quality Manager and auditors from the company and with other auditors as directed by the Head of material testing division.
With clients, suppliers and subcontractors at all levels.
VIII- Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) (BE) in Engineering from three Five years or equivalent college or university.
1-Certificates and Licenses:
Not required.
2-Language Ability: English
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
3- Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as Probability and statistical inference, and
Fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and Trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as
Fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
4- Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
5- Computer Skills:
Windows, Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet, E-mail, Database software.
Remuneration Package and Benefits:
· Monthly Base Salary: 2500 to 3000 USD based on the experience
